An additive masterbatch is a polymer-based material which is added to the raw materials of a plastic product during production to create or enhance specific properties in the final product. In the plastics manufacturing industry, different properties are required depending on the end-use product. For instance, if a product is meant to be used outdoors and exposed to sunlight for long periods, an Anti-UV masterbatch should be added during production to improve its resistance against ultraviolet (UV) radiation and extend its lifespan. Other common types of additive masterbatches include anti-block, anti-static, brightening, anti-shrink, antioxidant, and moisture absorber masterbatches.
Similar to additive masterbatches, color masterbatches are added to raw materials to achieve a specific property, in this case, color. Color masterbatches ensure a consistent and uniform color in the final plastic product.
